About this Photo
The Ghost of Cassiopeia (IC 63) lies 550 light years away from Earth in the constellation Cassiopeia. The red area is hydrogen that is being bombarded with ultraviolet radiation from the nearby, blue-giant star Gamma Cassiopeiae (the bright star on the right), causing it to glow in red light. The blue colour is from light reflected off of the nebula’s dust.
Prints are sold unframed. For framing enquiries, please contact me directly.
